Our Apprentices have started 2023 off strong! We sat down and spoke to our Functional Skills Manager, Lesley Williams, and she gave us an update on how the Apprentices are cracking on.

2023 Apprentice Update – Functional Skills Team

Throughout January and February, the English tutors have observed some amazing presentations as part of the English power week training. Apprentices have really risen to the challenge, delivering information on a wide range of topics, including:

• Cricket
• The History of York
• Running a Beauty Business
• The Evolution of Gaming
• Childline
• Running a Men’s Football Team
• Completing Vehicle Checks

A special mention goes to Stephanie and Charlie, whose presentations were detailed and professionally delivered. Well done to everyone for passing their speaking, listening and communication assessments.

January Apprentice Draw Winner

I am delighted to announce that the winner of a £50 gift card is Adam, an LGV apprentice from BCA, who passed his L1 maths exam in January. Congratulations!

Special Mentions!

A special mention to Teaching Assistant apprentice Gemma and an LGV apprentice Andrew. Both sat and passed their level 2 maths Functional Skills first time. Fantastic results!

Another success story we really wanted to highlight was a DPD LGV Apprentice, Andrius. He has worked diligently from the beginning of his apprenticeship and has now achieved level 1 English.

English being his second language presented challenges for him during training. However, his determination to succeed and additional studying has paid off. I am delighted to be able to award this apprentice his full English certificate.
