Whether you’re onboarding new team members or developing existing staff, the Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Apprenticeship is an effective way to build a skilled, safety-conscious warehouse team.

This nationally recognised Level 2 qualification is designed to ensure employees can confidently and safely handle goods, maintain stock accuracy, and operate within modern warehousing environments.

Common job roles include:

  • Warehouse Operative – responsible for receiving, storing, picking, and dispatching goods accurately and efficiently.
  • Picker/Packer – focused on preparing customer orders with care, ensuring the correct items are selected and securely packed.
  • Forklift Truck Operator – trained to move and position stock safely using mechanical handling equipment.
  • Storeperson – involved in managing stock levels, organising inventory, and maintaining storage areas.
  • Warehouse Assistant – supports a range of day-to-day warehousing activities, gaining experience across different operational areas.

Apprenticeship Overview

  • Level: 2 (Intermediate)
  • Duration: 12 months (plus up to 3 months for End-Point Assessment)
  • Delivery model: Blended learning (tutor-led workshops + online modules via OLLIE)
  • Location: Nationwide coverage with employer-based delivery
  • Start dates: Flexible, monthly intakes available

What’s Covered?

Training is aligned with the national occupational standard and includes:

  • Maintaining a safe and efficient warehouse environment
  • Receiving, handling, and storing goods to the correct standards
  • Picking and packing to meet specific order requirements
  • Using mechanical handling equipment correctly and safely
  • Stock-taking and inventory control
  • Understanding the importance of accuracy, hygiene and sustainability
  • Communication, teamworking, and problem-solving in logistics

All modules are supported with online content, workplace learning, and regular progress reviews.

  • >Dedicated tutor throughout the programme
  • 12-weekly formal progress reviews
  • 1-to-1 guidance and tailored development plans
  • Access to our custom learning platform: OLLIE
  • Maths & English support up to Level 2, if required

Entry Requirements

To join this programme, learners must:

  • Be employed in a relevant warehousing role
  • Be able to access the duties required to complete the apprenticeship
  • Not already hold a qualification at the same or higher level in a similar subject
  • Undertake an initial assessment in maths and English if not already qualified

Note: Learners must achieve Level 1 in English and maths, and work towards Level 2, as part of the programme.

End-Point Assessment (EPA)

After completing the training phase, learners will move through EPA Gateway into the final assessment, carried out by an independent assessor. This includes:

  1. Interview underpinned by a portfolio of evidence

    • Learners will discuss real-life workplace examples from their portfolio

    • Demonstrates understanding of knowledge, skills, and behaviours

  2. Observation with questions

    • A live workplace observation under normal working conditions

    • Assessor will ask questions to validate performance

EPA outcomes: Fail / Pass / Distinction
