We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our Work Based Learning team as an Apprenticeship Learning Advisor to employed professional learners within the Logistics sector, specialising in Large Goods and Urban Driver vehicles as well as Warehousing.

Reporting to the Logistics & Leadership and Management Sector Manager, you will make up an essential part of the apprenticeships training team. You will join a hybrid team consisting of Learning Advisors, Tutors and support staff all working together to deliver high quality apprenticeships to our clients. This role can be hybrid or office based, with our main offices based in Carlisle.

Role Duties

This role is crucial in supporting our Level 2 LGV and Urban Driver apprenticeship learners, guiding them through their learning journey towards successful completion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inductions: Conduct initial meetings with new apprentices to introduce them to the LGV/Urban Driver/Warehousing Level 2 apprenticeship programme, outlining expectations, resources, and support available.
• Virtual Workshop Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging virtual induction and other workshops to groups of apprentices, reinforcing key knowledge, skills, and behaviours in line with the apprenticeship standard.
• Learning Support: Assess each learner’s prior knowledge and any additional support needs. Provide ongoing learning assistance tailored to individual requirements throughout the apprenticeship up to the End Point Assessment. Supporting learners’ health, safety and wellbeing and following the safeguarding policy at all times.
• Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess apprentice progress through status reports and learning software. Identify any areas of concern and intervene as necessary to keep learners on track.
• Communication: Maintain effective communication with learners and their line managers through quarterly 1-2-1 tripartite interviews, ensuring alignment of apprenticeship goals with workplace expectations.
• Extra Support: Arrange for extra sessions or support where necessary, facilitating the best possible learning outcomes for each apprentice.
• Flexibility and Adaptability: This role may evolve in line with the changing needs of the business. The Learning Advisor may be required to support other teams, programmes, or projects within SP Training, demonstrating flexibility and a collaborative approach

Requirements:

It is essential that you have a Level 2 or higher qualification in functional skills or Grade C/4 Maths and English as applicable. You must also have high level of organisation and IT literacy, comfortable with managing virtual meetings (Zoom/Teams).

It would be advantageous but not essential if you have the following;

• Experience in training development, either as a learning advisor or in an administrative role.
• Experience within the logistics sector.
• A teaching or training qualification e.g. Certificate in Education or evidence of relevant teaching experience in an education, coaching or assessing context. However, we are able to offer training to a competitive candidate.

This role could be full or part time and will be discussed at interview stage.

Job Summary

We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Driver CPC Trainer to join our team on a flexible basis – self-employed or employed. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and informative Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) workshops to qualified HGV drivers.

£16 per hour
Carlisle CA6 4NW.

The majority of this work is expected to take place on weekends.

Training may be delivered in a classroom setting at our own or client’s premises as well as  online.  We anticipate this role will be based out of our Carlisle site and Lillyhall site in Workington as well as supporting clients around the county. Travel over a certain distance from your home base will be covered.

As a Trainer, you will play a key role in enhancing drivers’ skills, knowledge, and professionalism in various areas, including but not limited to:

• Road safety and accident prevention strategies
• Driver health and well-being, including fatigue management and mental health awareness
• Vehicle maintenance, safety checks, and cargo securing techniques
• Legislation, compliance, and working time regulations
• Customer service, conflict resolution, and representing the company professionally
• Emergency procedures and response protocols
• Environmental impact, fuel efficiency, and eco-driving techniques
• Security awareness, including identifying suspicious activities and cargo security

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver Driver CPC workshops covering the specified topics to qualified HGV drivers
• Provide clear and concise explanations of relevant topics, ensuring driver understanding and engagement
• Evaluate driver performance and provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement
• Accurately complete records of training sessions and complete relevant administration
• Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and best practices to enhance training programmes
• Collaborate with the training team to enhance overall training quality and effectiveness
