We’re also delighted to celebrate the achievements of Colin Rickerby, an apprentice from Cumbria Waste Group currently completing the Transport Operations Supervisor Apprenticeship with SP Training. Colin was shortlisted as Apprentice of the Year, fantastic recognition of his commitment, growth, and the positive impact he is already making within his role.

His success is not only a testament to his own determination but also to the quality of the support and guidance provided by our tutors. At SP Training, our tutors and learning advisors are at the heart of every learner journey – going above and beyond to ensure each individual is supported, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential.

Professional Driver Training Programme

SP Training’s Professional Driver Training Programme offers two specialist pathways tailored to different operational needs within the logistics sector — but both deliver the same high-impact results: fast-track licence acquisition, expert tuition, and confident, well-rounded drivers.

  • Urban Driver: Designed for drivers operating in urban, local, or regional delivery environments, this pathway focuses on the essential skills required for stop-start driving, customer interaction, multi-drop efficiency, and route familiarity. It’s ideal for businesses needing professional CAT C drivers.
  • Large Goods Vehicle (CAT C+E): Prepares drivers for long-distance, trunking, and inter-depot work involving articulated vehicles. The programme supports those starting their journey directly into C+E with a clear focus on safety, vehicle control, fuel efficiency, and compliance.

    Fast-Track Licence Acquisition and Long-Term Impact

    Both pathways are structured around early-stage, intensive licence acquisition, often within the first 12 weeks of the programme.
