Allan Moore, an aspiring transport professional at Evri, recently completed the Transport Supervisor Apprenticeship – a transformative journey that reshaped both his career path and his approach to leadership and self-development.

Starting the Journey

At the outset, Allan was taken aback by the sheer scale of the apprenticeship. With 30 modules, Level 2 Maths and English requirements, and a wide range of tests and evaluations, the workload felt daunting. However, his perspective changed as he became immersed in the content and personal growth the course inspired.

“Once you get into it and start discovering more about not only the processes of Transport Management but also your own personal discovery, it almost became addictive.”

His advice to others?

“Go for it – it will be better than you imagined.”

Personal and Professional Growth

A standout moment for Allan was the opportunity to reflect on his own leadership style. At first, it was difficult to hear constructive feedback, but it quickly became a turning point.

“It was actually one of the best things that happened to me. I was able to see myself the way others saw me and work on those areas to become a better manager.”

The apprenticeship helped him develop a calm, professional approach to leadership and problem solving skills that will support him for the rest of his career.

Career Impact

Since completing the course, Allan has been recommended for promotion to Site Manager, a role that will see him lead his own team from one of Evri’s operational hubs.

“For the first time in many years, I feel that I have a successful career ahead. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, I now feel inspired and capable of dealing with whatever issues may arise.”

He now has the confidence and practical knowledge to handle complex processes such as disciplinaries and incident reporting with ease.

Support from Evri

Allan credits Evri with playing a key role in his success. The company provided time off to study, access to support from experienced senior managers, and even helped him navigate a personal nationality change—an essential step in completing the programme.

“Evri have been fantastic. I can’t fault them for the level of support they’ve given me throughout the apprenticeship.”

Conclusion

Allan’s experience shows how apprenticeships—when supported by a dedicated employer and mentor—can be life-changing. His success is a clear example of how growth, confidence, and opportunity can be unlocked through commitment and the right support.

“You can be whatever you want to be when you commit yourself.”

A Word of Thanks

Allan also acknowledged the crucial support of his tutor, Tracey Caddle, whose guidance and encouragement played a vital role in his success.

“You’ve been amazing, supportive beyond your job role. Even when I doubted myself, you never did. Without your help, I may never have completed this apprenticeship.”

Tracey’s dedication to her learners was formally recognised at the VTCT Skills Excellence Awards 2025, where she received the Judges’ Award for Inspiring Individual and was Highly Commended for Educator of the Year, a fitting tribute to her unwavering commitment to helping others thrive.

Robin Brown Chairman at SP Training also praised Tracey’s contribution:

“Tracey embodies everything we stand for at SP Training—passion, professionalism, and a deep commitment to learner success. We are incredibly proud of her well-deserved recognition and the positive impact she continues to make across the transport and logistics sector.”
