SP Training Logistics Training Centre Launched

A new, industry leading logistics training centre has been launched at Carlisle Airport by SP Training, the newly branded specialist training division of System People. Designed to support the logistics industry, the facility is one of the largest and best-equipped Logistics Training Centres in the UK.

Led by Robin Brown and Tony Higgins, SP Training will focus on delivering high quality logistics and transport training to both local and national companies. The industry is currently short of 45, 000 drivers which is set to get worse over the coming years. The new centre will provide new and upskilled drivers to help address this serious skills shortage, bringing people into the industry and not only filling the skills shortage but helping more people find work.

SP Training are working with Stobart Group operating the latest specification vehicles for training. Trainees who learn to drive in these vehicles are learning to operate the latest Stobart Group vehicles, which in turn gives them the skills required for the modern logistics industry. Locally Stobart Group recently employed 20 drivers through its partnership with SP Training,who are carrying out a variety of driving roles.

SP Training is also working with local employers in the Cumbria Transport Group (CTG) to support them with the supply of training and new drivers. The group includes WM Armstrong, AW Jenkinson, Tyson H Burridge, Cumbria County Council, Carlisle City Council, Stalkers Transport Services and many others.

Through its highly-skilled and qualified trainers, SP Training can offer a bespoke service that includes the development of innovative, company-specific training programmes to improve productivity, reduce accidents and associated costs.

As pioneers in this area, Robin and Tony have secured programmes with large national companies such as Travis Perkins, ECM, Yodel and Arla Foods.
