Course Content

The course covers management of an unresponsive casualty, CPR and the recovery position, dealing with bleeding and shock, as well as choking, seizures, stroke and minor injuries. The course includes practical and written exercises and learners will get hands on experience of placing someone in the recovery position and delivering CPR as well as completing an accident report form.

Please note that this course includes a practical component, where candidates will need to perform CPR, and a short written assessment.

Course Aim

This module aims to ensure you have a working understanding of:

  • Workplace first aid issues
  • How to respond to a first aid emergency
  • How to administer first aid

Learning Objectives

By the end of this module you should have an understanding of:

  • The legal responsibilities and regulations related to health and safety and first aid in the workplace.
  • Casualty assessment and basic life support techniques.
  • Treatment of common injuries and conditions including cuts, burns, asthma, epilepsy, choking and shock.
  • First aid stations and kits
