This accredited qualification is for anyone who is likely to come into contact with hazardous substances within a variety of working environments including: manufacturing, cleaning, healthcare, transport, utilities and office environments. It gives learners the knowledge to recognise the risks associated with hazardous substances and how to control them. Subjects covered include laws relating to hazardous substances in the workplace, risk assessments, safe use of hazardous substances in the workplace, control precautions and procedures for dealing with hazardous substances.

Course Content
• Understand the law relating to hazardous substances in the workplace
• Understand how risk assessments contribute to the safe use of hazardous substances in the workplace
• Understand the precautions and procedures necessary to ensure the risks associated with hazardous substances are properly controlled

Entry Requirements
Although there are no formal entry requirements for this course it is advised that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy.

How is the qualification assessed?
The qualification is assessed as a Multiple choice examination. 15 questions lasting 30 minute. Learners must achieve 10 out of 15 in
order to pass.

What next?
Learners may wish to progress to a further qualification such as Level 3 Award in Health
and Safety in the Workplace (QCF) or Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment (QCF).

Course Dates
This is a one day course combined with our Level 2 Risk Assessment. The combination package costs £95 + VAT.
